AUSTIN – The Carbon Neutral Coalition (CNC) today praised Representative Brooks Landgraf, Chairman of the House Environmental Regulations Committee who represents the Permian Basin (R-Odessa), for filing House Bill 3355 which would ensure carbon capture facilities are eligible for the pollution control property tax exemption.
HB 3355 also removes the requirement that the eligible projects must meet specific environmental regulations, such as from the EPA, to receive tax benefits. Under this bill, energy companies throughout the state would be incentivized to further invest in Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS).
“Representative Landgraf has long been a champion of Texas’ energy industry and his filing of HB 3355 is just the latest iteration of that. Carbon capture technology is vital to the industry’s future and by incentivizing investment in this critical technology, we can ensure Texas maintains its status as a global energy innovator and secures its economic future.”
–CNC Advisory Board Chairwoman, Susan Combs
“Texas has become a global energy leader through a combination of the Lord’s blessing, good old-fashioned hard work, and leveraging new technologies,” Landgraf said. “HB 3355 is all about ensuring that Texas continues to do everything possible to secure American energy independence and expand the Lone Star State’s influence as a global force for good.”
